Visual information system in the "Planetarium. Silesian Science Park was designed based on the new visual identity of this institution.
A big challenge in the project was the functional layout of the building and its complex architecture. The building consists of two parts: the historic one - built in the 1950s and the new one - put into use in 2022. Both of these spaces connect with each other, and the traffic of visitors takes place in different directions and on different levels.
The designed system consists of a set of several dedicated carriers, markings and pictograms in a properly selected scale, function and legibility.
One of the main materials used in the execution of text messages and carriers is Marmoleum. This material, normally used as a floor covering, found its alternative use in the project. Its attractive colors and non-uniform structure are a direct reference to the travertine wall coverings in the old part of the building, and are also associated with the surface of planets and other celestial bodies.
The colors of the elements were matched to the character of the space - black, gray and white were used in the historic building. In the new part of the complex, navy blue, violet and white were used - analogous to the new visual identification. The Brandon Grotesk typeface was used in the project, also resulting from the newly designed visual identity of the institution.
