Apilandia is a museum about beekeeping, where the main approach is learning through play. The museum space is divided visually into different areas to reach a wide group of recipients. The exhibition opens and closes with scenographic spaces. The first room is dedicated to the bee family. We are supposed to feel like inside a hive thanks to the hexagonal structure. The other two rooms present objects and content in contrast in a classic way. The visual link is the colors and materials - mass-dyed MDF and plywood.
The room dedicated to bee products is boutique-like. We wanted to put bee products on a pedestal. After all, to obtain one tablespoon of honey, a bee must visit as many as half a million flowers!
We made sure that the interaction with the exhibition was not only multimedia, but also manual. Visitors can discover the curiosities at the exhibition on their own.
The finale is a room dedicated to biodiversity, where we talk about the role of pollinators. The interactive, scaled installation takes us to the magical world of bees and other pollinators. The enlarged honey plants are made to encourage visitors to look at them from the perspective of an insect. We wanted the children to remember what each of us can do at home to help bees and other pollinators.
The scope of the project included developing an exhibition scenario, graphic design, exhibition arrangement design and application design.
